  • Nothing

    Broke down in Nothing
on the side of the road.
    Sitting here waiting,
    at least it’s not cold.

    Nobody’s stopping,
    they all drive by.
    Maybe they’re blinded
    by the blue sky.

    I did call for help.
    I had to call twice.
    Because when they answered,
    they weren’t very nice.

    They wanted to know
    where my car was broke..
    I told them “In Nothing.”
    It isn’t a joke.

    I said, “Arizona,
    in Nothing, you see?”
    They finally got it,
    they’re coming for me.

    There’s nothing in Nothing,
    old heaps and a sign.
    To get my car fixed,
    that would be fine.

    My wife, she is bored.
    sitting here in the heat.
    I think she is wilting,
    she’s stuck to the seat.

    I’m sure that we’ll
    be leaving today.
    I’ll text you back
    when we’re on our way.

  • New Day, New Post

    Excellent title, eh? Slacking today…

We were experiencing issues with both front and back porches where we currently live. My wife fell down the stairs on the front porch and injured her ankle (although I do tell people that I threw her off the porch). So, yesterday, I went to Home Depot and got some wood, screws, sawhorses, and a saw. I borrowed a drill from a friend who is staying with us this week. I fixed the front porch yesterday, and then I fixed the back porch today. Hopefully, they will last until we can get someone to build nicer ones.

Came in after that and fixed a lunch of scrambled eggs and tater tots. We’re eating high off the hog this week!

I need to continue working on a poem for my poetry group, which is due by the 11th. I am trying to create something in the “Mistress Bradstreet Stanza” poetic form. I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but I will give it to the end of today before I try something else.
